Deborah Cox | LANDSCAPES The Visible and Non-Visible | Oct 11 - Oct 31, 2024
We are delighted to present “Landscapes: The Visible and Non-Visible,” a solo exhibition of new paintings by Deborah Cox at Aleph Contemporary, held in conjunction with the Autumn Arts Trail.
Deborah Cox—winner of the 2023 Laurie Lee Prize for Literature—is both an artist and a writer. Her work draws on a strong sense of place, particularly Gloucestershire, where she grew up. Using water‑based media, she offers immediate, expressive and visceral responses to the landscape. Although she grew up in a village with “roses round the doors” she avoids the Romantic and picturesque in favour of the unseen—the non‑visible. In her writing and painting she explores issues of family dysfunction, intensive farming and river pollution.
This exhibition offers rich, evocative landscapes of Gloucestershire and beyond, presented in both framed and unframed formats.
